Yen Dung is a rural district of Bac Giang Province in the Northeast region of Vietnam. The district covers an area of 213 km². The district capital lies at Neo.
The most important tourist attraction of Yen Dung is the Vinh Nghiem pagoda, which is 20 kilometers southeast of Bac Giang City, the capital of the province. The pagoda was built at the beginning of the Ly Dynasty in the 11th century, and expanded during the Tran Dynasty in the 13th and 14th centuries. It was one of the four training centers for Truc Lam Yen to Buddhism’s followers for nearly eight centuries.
The three founders of Truc Lam Yen Tu Buddhism were Kings Tran Nan Tong, Phap Loa, and Huyen Quang who took the holy orders at Vinh Nghiem Pagoda, also known as the cradle of Buddhism in the Tran Dynasty. Vinh Nghiem was recognized as a national heritage in 1964 and a national intangible cultural heritage in 2013.
