Getting to Tua Chua Dien Bien

The best way to get to Tua Chua from Hanoi is to take a flight from Hanoi to Dien Bien Phu city, Dien Bien province. Upon your arrival at Dien Bien Phu airport, rent a car with driver, or catch a taxi to get to Tua Chua district. There are also direct buses from Dien Bien Phu city to Tua Chua, with few daily departures.

Traveling to Tua Chua by road from Hanoi, take the national road #6 Hanoi – Son La – Dien Bien Phu, following then the provincial road from Dien Bien Phu city to Tua Chua. You can also reach this area by following the new highway Hanoi – Lao Cai, then Sapa, Lai Chau and Tua Chua. The stretch of road goes uphill and downhill alternately with many sharp bends.

It is highly recommended to book a guided tour to Tua Chua since this is a remote place where local people don’t speak any foreign language. Besides visa, permit is required by local authorities. A tour guide will be very helpful for any trip to Tua Chua. Taking a tour with a local guide means you learn about the importance of local culture and traditions.

The district climate is monsoon tropical in altitude with low temperature and few rain in winter, hot and heavy rain in summer, Vietnam weather. Average annual temperature is 21-230C, lowest temperatures occur from December to February of the following year (14-180C), from April to September average temperature is 250C. Dry season lasts from October to April of the following year.
